Mr. and Mrs. Mark & Darlena Brown

Both Mr. and Mrs. Brown graduated from Beaumont High School in the mid-1930’s. He came to SFA in 1937 and was a member of the Lumberjack freshman basketball team and the Barrister Club. She came to SFA after first attending what was then Lamar Junior College.
At SFA, she was president of the Woman’s Council and was a member of the Pine Burrs Club which is now Chi Omega sorority. She was selected to represent SFA as a duchess in the Forest Festival in 1939. Mr. and Mrs. Brown’s only son, Mark H. Brown, also is a graduate of SFA. He received both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees from SFA.
Mr. Brown served as a plant foreman at U.S. Steel in Orange for 33 years and Mrs. Brown was a second grade teacher in the Beaumont Independent School District for 30 years.
Mrs. Brown passed away in November of 2008 and Mr. Brown passed the following January of 2009.

Impact

The Raymond & Fay Brown Memorial Scholarship benefits students majoring in Forestry with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
