Mr. Francis D Kenny

A native of Utica, N.Y., Kenny attended local schools and graduated from New Hartford High School in 1954. She attended Vassar College and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Art degree in early childhood development. She married Frank D. Kenny, and the couple had seven children.
While the children were young, Kenny entered the workforce as a nursery school teacher and then became a child welfare worker for the State of Arkansas. While working with the Child Protective Services in Texas, Kenny pursued a master’s degree in social work at the University of Texas at Arlington.
In 1998, Kenny joined the SFA School of Social Work staff as a field development specialist. As part of her duties, she worked with foster parents and local CPS offices in upgrading and serving CPS clients.
Kenny died of uterine cancer in 2003 at the age of 67.

Impact

The Elisabeth Kenny Scholarship will benefit graduate students in the SFA School of Social Work. Recipients must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA.

Scholarships
