Mr. Mickey Smith

Mickey Smith graduated from SFA in 1967 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Following graduation, he joined the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) bank liquidation division in Washington, D.C. In 1972, Smith left FDIC to become owner and manager of Marvin A. Smith Company, Inc. and spent 20 years with the company. Presently, Smith is co-owner of Four-S Oil Company, Inc. and Smith Partners, Ltd.
Smith has had a distinguished career serving his community. He was a member of the Kilgore City Commission from 1975 to 1981. He served as the mayor of Kilgore from 1981 to 1987, and, from 1995 to 2002, he was a Gregg County Judge.
His carried civic service includes being charter president of the Kilgore Historical Preservation Foundation and chairman of the Kilgore United Way. He has served on the board of directors for the SFA Alumni Association, Texas Municipal League Region 15 in Austin, Kilgore Chamber of Commerce, Upshur Rural Electric Cooperative, Gregg County Tax Appraisal District, and the Marvin A. Smith Company, Inc.
Smith also served as chairman or president of the East Texas Council of Governments Committees, East Texas Gulf Highway Association, East Texas Producers and Royalty Owners Association, State Environmental Committee for Texas Environmental Quality Commission and the Northeast Texas Air Care for five counties.
A member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Smith and his wife Bobbie have three children and three grandchildren. He also is a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge #101 and a Shriner with Scottish Rite in Waco and Sharon Temple in Tyler.

Impact

The Mickey Smith Accounting Scholarship will benefit Accounting majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
