Ms. Mavis Faulkner Robertson
In 1977, family and friends established a scholarship in memory of Con Devers, a long-time teacher in the Tyler public school system.
Graduating from SFA, Devers received his bachelor degree in 1952, with a major in social studies and a minor in English. He earned his master’s degree in education and history in 1953. Devers taught in the Nacogdoches school system for 4 years and in Tyler for 18 years.
Devers was an active member in the National Education Association, Texas State Teachers’ Association, and Texas Classroom Teachers’ Association , and held offices in all three organizations.
Devers married Maurine L. Devers, who worked for Skidmore Sundries, Inc. a wholesale drug company in Tyler.
