Ms. Nina Partin

Dr. James R. Partin established The Nina Partin Athletic Trainer Scholarship to honor his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dwight Partin of Nacogdoches, and sisters, Nina Partin and Gloria Jeanie Partin Gresham. The family decided to name the scholarship The Nina Partin Athletic Scholarship because Nina was associated with SFA for 15 years and was the first fulltime female trainer at the university.
Partin family members lived for many years in the Cushing area. All are graduates of Cushing High School and SFA.
Nina Partin served as assistant trainer in Colorado Springs for the U.S. Olympic Committee. She received her bachelor’s degree from SFA in 1979 and the master’s degree in 1980. After serving as a student trainer from 1975-79, she was a graduate assistant trainer in 1979-80, fulltime assistant trainer from 1980-90, instructor in health and physical education from 1980-82, supervisor in the athletic trainer curriculum program from 1980-86 and supervisor in the athletic trainer internship program from 1986-90.
She was named to the Outstanding Young Women of America in 1980 and was inducted into the Ladyjack Hall of Honor at SFA in 1987.
Dr. Partin, who endowed this scholarship, is a physician and a 1972 graduate of SFA.
